La Tour de Brazalem was part of a private early 16th century
mansion house of
which the main
living area and the openings in the east walls have survived to today.
Polygonal-shaped, the Tour houses the stairs leading to the dwelling area.
An underground tunnel (now filled in) linked it to the castle.
The presence of the underground tunnel suggests that la Tour de Brazalem may have been used as a secret way in or out of the castle.
For Henri IV's escapades?
For secret meetings of the protestants with Jeanne d'Albret?
For the secret masses of la Reine Margot?
The installation dating from 2014 was done with noble materials by specialized craftsmen in collaboration with the architects of the Batiments de France.
